South Africa-based HOSTAFRICA acquires Kenyan hosting provider Sasahost

South African hosting services provider HOSTAFRICA has announced the acquisition of Kenyan hosting services provider Sasahost.

The acquisition is effective 1st December 2023.

According to a joint statement from both companies, this is HOSTAFRICA’s eighth acquisition since its founding. Last year, the South African company acquired EAC Directory, another Kenyan hosting services provider.

“This move is a part of HOSTAFRICA’s broader strategy to cement its position as a leading web hosting provider across Africa. With successful expansions into Ghana and Nigeria, the company has now set its sights on deepening its reach in Kenya, continuing its commitment to digital growth and excellence on the continent,” the statement says.

“Since its foundation in South Africa, HOSTAFRICA has become a key player in the African hosting market. Strategic acquisitions, such as DomainKing in Nigeria and EAC Directories in Kenya, have been pivotal in achieving its vision of a consolidated digital service landscape.”

“This acquisition is a significant step in HOSTAFRICA’s strategy to expand its hosting authority in Kenya and beyond.”

Sasahost, one of the top web hosting companies in Kenya, has served the Kenyan market for over a decade, offering web hosting, domain registration, server management and other such services.

Its customers will now be transitioned to HOSTAFRICA’s platforms. Existing customers have been receiving text messages notifying them of the changes, especially with regards to the billing details.

Details of the acquisition, like the amounts involved, have not been disclosed.
