Fawzia Ali appointed Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer

Fawzia Ali has been appointed as the Chief Consumer Business of Safaricom, starting mid this month.

Announcing her appointment, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa praised Ali’s leadership and transformation credentials with her appointment being the crowning of a journey spanning over two decades, nearly three-quarters of which have been spent at the giant telecommunications company.

“Following her confirmation to the role, Fawzia will continue with her responsibility of leading the Consumer Business’ Mission and strategic objectives and growing the market share and consumer solutions through product development, digital CVM, terminals strategy and customer insights,” Ndegwa added.

Ali has been serving in the role in an acting capacity since July 2022 when she stepped in as Silvia Mulinge, then the occupant of the office, was transitioning into her new role as the CEO of MTN Uganda.

Ali has also previously served Safaricom as the Senior Manager – Reporting, Accounts Receivable and M-PESA, Head of Consumer Planning and Pricing (Finance), Head of Regional Sales & Operations – Coast, Head of Consumer Segments, Head of Digital Products and Services and Mobile Data Tribe Lead.

She has also served as a Safaricom Foundation Trustee in addition to being a mentor in the telco’s Women in Leadership program
