After a showcase at IFA 2022, it appears that Tecno is ready to proceed with its laptop release plans, following in the footsteps of sister Transsion brand Infinix whose INBook X series of laptops have been around for over a year.
The Megabook S1 that Tecno announced alongside its new Phantom series flagship device, is a follow-up to the Megabook T1 it showcased at IFA 2022.
The Tecno Megabook S1 has a magnesium alloy build that contains a 15.6-inch display with a 3.2K resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. This display has a 100% sRGB colour gamut (it is colour accurate), a 120Hz refresh rate and 450 nits of brightness.
The device is 13.5mm thick and weighs in at 1.35kg.
It runs on Intel’s 12th generation Core i7 processor, has 16GB RAM (LPDDR5) and either a 512GB or 1TB SSD (PCIe 4.0).
There is a HD webcam and a six-speaker system for sound output.
Connectivity options for the Tecno Megabook S1 include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC (necessary for the OneLeap connection which works like Huawei Share i.e. allows the Megabook S1 to be paired with a compatible Tecno smartphone).
On the port side, there are a pair of USB-C ports, a pair of USB-A ports, a full-sized HDMI port, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. One of the two USB-C ports is used in conjunction with the included 65W GaN charger to juice up the device.
It has a 70Wh battery and arrives running Windows 11.
The 512GB Megabook S1 is priced at USD 1,499 while its 1TB counterpart is going for USD 1,599.
